Dakota
The authors of this piece of literature are Young-Hae Chang and
Marc Voge. These two have been working as a team since the 90’s and their style
hasn’t changed much at all which surprises me. A lot of authors, artist etc.
change the way they do things as time progresses because social culture
changes. We might not be into the same stuff we were into years ago but they
stuck with it and it seems as if it is working.
This was my face from the very beginning of this piece of
electronic literature. Very different if I must say. It starts off with the words
of “FUCKING” in all caps, which is very different coming from any piece of literature.
As the screen is switching from word to word it is very hard to comprehend and
sort of hurts your eyes, well at least I experienced that.
As the
reader you get a different point of view I believe when you read it. It starts
off with a couple of friends going on a trip you would think, just having a
good time. But as the story continue on, it goes into sort of an emotional part.
This is where you come across the person “Elie” who from me and my tribe’s
impression has passed away. It doesn’t go into too much detail but you just
know that he took a bullet and died as a virgin. As the story goes on you can
tell that he is missed and it feels as if the person is having a heart to heart
with this Elie character spiritually. After that moment I really was left
confused. The pace continued to get faster and faster and was hard to read and
especially comprehend. Though I had many difficulties, I do find this piece
more interesting than the past pieces.
